Registered Member American Institute of Architects (AIA)

Experience:

Mr. Dirr has over 20 years experience in all aspects of Architecture, Master Planning, Space Planning, and Interior Design. Much of his commissioned work is in the field of new building development and building renovation, as well as, additions to architecturally significant structures.

Mr. Dirr's current focus is the development of green sustainable projects. A 5000 s.f. custom home has been designed and is being constructed in the Hamlet of Montauk. The home's design elements include: energy efficient (ICF) Insulated Concrete Form Wall System from basement to second floor, geo-thermal heating loops, a 10.0 k.w. solar photovoltaic system, hurricane rated roofing and windows. Additionally, a state of the art HVAC system with monitoring of the radiant heating and air conditioning by the most current "Crestron" Smart Home Technology. All fixtures and appliances within the home are Energy Star rated and many of the components provide Leed points through the USGBC. In direct cooperation with the client and the Construction Manager the Montauk home will achieve a Leed Certification and become one of Long Island's first "Net Zero" homes.

The new systems and materials being utilized at the Montauk residence will be a showcase for Green Sustainable Construction built by the Construction Team and headed by G. M. Dirr, Architect, P.C.

This type of construction is growing in popularity and is the direction of the future for Long Island and the NY Metro area.

Mr. Dirr's expertise also runs strong in renovation, restoration, and rehabilitation projects of various building types. His knowledge and hands-on experience have brought Mr. Dirr directly to the Restoration and Rehabilitation of OHEKA Castle built in 1917 in Cold Spring Harbor, Huntington, NY by millionaire financier and Patron of the Arts, Otto Herman Kahn and designed by renowned Architects, DeLano & Aldrich. OHEKA is known as the second largest single family residence in America, second only to the Vanderbilt's Biltmore Castle in North Carolina, and is nearly twice the size of San Simeon (the Hearst Castle) in California.

Mr. Dirr's career provides versatility through the various projects commissioned to his firm. The list of current clients include over 500 units of Multi-Family Housing Projects for Seniors, as well as, many custom and semi custom homes and renovations along the Gold Coast of Long Island, stretching from Manhattan's Park Avenue to Montauk.
